Art Journal – Follow your Dreams

DSC02267

Thanks so much to all the new followers!  It’s been fun spotting your names in different areas, and I’ve met so many new people on FB and Pinterest!  I’m having a hard time myself keeping up with all the blogs I like, so I’m in the process of disabling email follows and signing up for RSS feeds instead.  It’s tough finding a method that works best.  I understand if you need to do the same with mine, and disable any of those ‘follows’.  No hard feelings!

On to my project… I started with a thick layer of gesso followed by heavy body paints applied with my fingers.

Next I cut up beautiful 7 Dots Studio paper using my Sizzix Hexagons die.  I ran them all through my Xyron 9-Inch Creative Station.

I added black paint and ink through stencils.

I used gel medium to seal the sticker letters, which also takes away the shine from them:

Loved using up some older stickers:

While I was making this I found a flower on my table leftover from my blue kite which I decided to add to the page.

  1. A gorgeous page.

  2. I really love it

  3. Love this one too, Marjie! Hexagons are really hot right now and I did not realize Sizzix had a die for those! Running through the Xyron is ingenious and your colors are amazing! Thanks for all the wonderful techniques.

  4. Marjie, it’s so wonderful to see how you build up the layers in your lovely page spread. I’m beginning to realise how important layers are and tutorials like this one, make it seem achievable and inspires me to have a go. Really like that xyron gadget too! Sometimes we want something but have to consider how useful it will be – no problem with this machine though.

  6. I can’t do RSS feeds…I have to have things come straight to my email or I’ll never see it! LOL….everyone is different! Love love love your pages here Marjie…Fabulous! The honeycomb shape, the script stencil ( I NEED THAT ONE!), Gorgeous all around!!!

  7. Fabulous Marjie. I love the colours and use of the hexagon’s shape. Thanks for visiting the other day. I had a bash with the sprays etc but found the spraying through some of the stencils a challenge but I have lots to learn. Loved getting messy. Wish I could attend a class x crafty hugs Annie x

  8. Fantastic spread Marjie! Every time I try to follow you on Networked blogs it accepts me but the follower number never changes so I don’t think it works. I just use the regular blogger gadget but I guess you can’t use that on.com. I’m moving to blog lovin’ for reading blogs as I can’t keep up with the emails either & Google Reader never worked for me!

  9. Wonderful page Marjie! I love using my fingers to paint! xx

  10. Hi Marjie, we have been painting with our fingers all day today and had the most fun ever! I love your pages, those hexagons are fabulous and the stencilling really stands out well against the background. Love the colour around the edges too. Hugs, Anne x
